In the event you are a victim of workplace violence or witness it, take these steps:
- If you are in immediate danger or see someone else in immediate danger, assess the situation and decide if you should stay or leave the area.
- Call 911 and give them a detailed description of your location, the person threatening you and what if any weapons they are carrying.
- Move to a more crowded area and ask for help.
- If possible, contact security after calling 911.
- If a threat is made but the danger does not appear to be imminent, contact management and/or human resources and file a formal report.
- Be alert to the warning signs of hostility.
- If any time, you feel threatened, report the incident to human resources.
